This week's newsletter is brought to you courtesy of Tom Rudzewick. Thanks Tom. Happy Turkey day everyone. See you in December. Isn't that a song?
Brief meeting memo – Kiwanis Club of Maspeth
Meeting – November 19th, 2009
Only a handful of members in attendance today. Nunzio dispensed with the meeting formalities and allowed an open forum to those present – Marie, Rich R, Ken R, Tom R, Mike F, Lou B and Nunzio.
Interclub’s are going well – the club completed East Elmhurst and Sunnyside in the past few weeks.
[Editors note: Tina, JP, and Mike Terry attended the East Elmhurst/Corona party last Wednesday]
Marie mentioned that an Auction Chairperson and committee is promptly
needed to begin the item collections for our April 15th, 2009
Auction. This date remains tentative until all details are finalized. After
numerous years of faithful service, Marie has asked to be replaced as
Chairperson since she is busy closing on her new home in Long
Island. Good luck Marie, I’m sure someone will step up to
the plate.
Rich Reichert reported that he was joined by Nunzio, Jim O’Kane,
the DiTroia’s and Bill Bellis at Bob Kane’s Award Dinner last night
at RomaView. Rich stated that all had a wonderful time and were glad to be of
support for Bob.
Mike Falco reminded everyone that the club will be putting together Turkey baskets for the Needy at St. Stanislaus this Saturday at 10am. Jim and John O’Kane are looking for volunteers to help. Please call O’Kane’s Realty for more information at 718-779-1111, [Editor's note: This took place last Saturday the 21st. Gobble,Gobble. Thanks Jim and John!]
Nunzio posed a few club history questions for all those present and
I’d like to pass along the inquiry to everyone. After reviewing
historical documents submitted by Len Masone, Nunzio asked if anyone knew how
much did the club pay at auction for our scholarship fund land parcel and where
was it located???
The answer will be revealed at the next club meeting, which is also a
board meeting on December 3rd.
Happy Thanksgiving to all and hope to see everyone in December. [Editor's note: Don't forget the Christmas party on December 10th. Please plan on coming to greet and eat at Maspeth Town Hall. Singing, dancing, revelry and Santa are promised.]
